This post is probably long overdue, but I decided to make a post now that HRE has actually participated just a bit... He still needs to do more, I know.

Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how I could portray him better.

Charles is a pirate who sometimes finds himself taking secret orders from unexpected places such as the Vatican. Mostly he does this because recently his country has come upon rough times due to pillaging and war. Also, he is in search of a beautiful girl he once saw and immediately fell in love with, and he has reason to believe he can find her and take good care of her if he goes to sea to make his fortune. He is a very adventurous boy, but rather innocent and often doesn't understand the ways of the world. His primary reason for his choice of profession was to quickly get out of town and go in search of whom he has determined is his one true love. He pretends to be tough, but deep down he is a romantic.

OOC: The Log of the Commander, in which Holy Roman Empire records his thoughts and feelings. It is not a diary he assures me. Lately, something that happened has been bothering him, and so he retreated to his bedroom to vent about it in his Commander's Log.

Edit: For those who are unaware, HRE thinks Chibi!Ivan is a girl because upon their first meeting 'she' did not seem to know where she came from or what she was doing there. She also seemed fairly helpless and innocent, and these things reminded HRE of Italy. He therefore assumes that Ivan is a girl, seeing as Ivan is not a Roman name and he therefore does not realize that it is a boy's name. Poor HRE and his gender-confusing tendencies...

After his dinner at Prussia's house, Holy Roman Empire made his way to his own house slowly. He observed the beauty of nature around him on his walk home. He looked at the patches of green grass, at the vegetable patches, at the flowers. Try as he might, though, he could not stop thinking about the visitor from the North. Where had she come from? Why had neither Rome nor Germania ever known of her or her mother? It simply did not fit his paradigm of existence.

Of course, he was also thinking of Italy. He never stopped thinking about Italy, and he prided himself on his love for her. This was very confusing, though. He could not stop thinking about Ivan either. He remembered how cold her hand had been when she had been explaining how cold she was to him. For a few moments, he did wonder if she would melt inside his house, but then realized that that was simply absurd. Prussia's house was no cooler than his own. He thought of Italy again, of her warm hand touching his when she tried to teach him to paint.

He stalked into his bedroom, frustrated with this feeling he couldn't quite describe. He shut the door, not bothering to be sure that it closed all the way or to lock it. He didn't notice that the door was very slightly ajar as he began rummaging around until he found a book with some blank pages and a quill and some ink and began to write...

"A few days ago, I met a mysterious visitor from the north. She called herself Russia... Ivan. I tried to discern her origin, but she claims to only know her mother. She does not know of Rome or Germania, and I find this most perplexing. She says that her home is very cold, and I have told her of the abundance of room I have for her to stay more permanently at my house. Thus far she has refused, but I hope that she will be persuaded to join the Roman Empire.

Italy and Russia met over dinner at my brother Prussia's house, and..."

He stopped writing and stared off into space slightly above the book. He was stretched out on his stomach on his bed, trying to think of the next thing to write. Normally, he sat up very tall and straight at a desk to do any necessary writing, but the persistent memories of the warmth of Italy's hand and the chill of Russia's that sent a shock of pity and empathy down his spine and into his heart were quite wearisome.
